Our friendship was not very long but it was very special to me. Our telephone conversations on politics and life was very inspiring. Take your rest now, I have this consolaton that we will meet again. You were a very sweet lady.
With Love,
Your friend The Rev. Dr. Joyce Braithwaite...Newnan Ga

Laura Fields (aka Ms. Fields 😊) was one of the most delightful women I ever met. She had a true appreciation for the theater, books, fine cuisine, and her huge/massive collections of dolls ( from Diane Carroll to the Obamas and more). She enjoyed a "good conversation, and if one 4-1-1 on something if she didn't know it she had a way of getting it. 🤣." She even enjoyed telling me, how in her earlier years, how folk would confuse her with the late great Mayor Harold Washington's girlfriend, who ironically transitioned recently. Ms. Fields is who donated the late Mayor's picture that hangs in the lobby of the Hampton House (who was one of its most notable residents).

The Fields' Family have deepest sympathies and prayers.

Laura and I met in nursery school at age 3 or 4. We went to school for years 1-3 and then 5-12. I always admired Laura's smile, laughter, intellect, and her musical gift. Both Laura and Louise, her older sister, would transform the piano into a wonderous instrument.
My late husband and I spent a great time visiting with Laura in Chicago during a medical convention. Laughter and food for several days. Laura also visited me in San Francisco, and we reminisced about old times. As with many of her friends, we talked on the telephone. I treasure those times and will never forget.

Laura, rest in God's arms. I love you.
