Yvonne L. Rodgers was born Yvonne Lewis to Mabel Gamble and Raymond Lewis on June 20th 1941 at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. She received her wings on June 26, 2021 at Christ Hospital with her son, Michael by her side.
Yvonne was baptized at an early age. She attended Hirsch High School until she gave birth to her son, Michael Lewis. Yvonne worked in the Manufacturing industry for many years until she retired in 2005 due to illness.
Yvonne was the life of the party, and always knew how to light up a room, and could talk mess with the best of them! Anyone that came in contact with her, could never forgot her infectious laugh, or sense of humor. She also had an obsession with word puzzles.
Yvonne had a bright and energetic personality, and she will forever be remembered for her ability to sense when people needed help. She touched the lives of many people with her generosity and her passion for life. One thing is for certain, she loved her family immensely and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
Preceding her in death, were Brother Melvin Lewis, Granddaughter Crystal Anderson, and Great Granddaughter Monet Beckford.
Yvonne leaves to cherish her memory, son Michael (Mary), Sister Juanita Cephus (Sam), Granddaughters Veronica Lewis, LaShawna Canty, LaToya Canty, and LaTrice Canty, and 13 Great Grandchildren, generations of cousins, many friends, and compassionate caregivers.
