"Daddy Rick" as I would call him would always joke with each other. He had a great sense of humor. Rest in peace and till we meet again. My deepest condolences to my baby sister Kim Gibs and the entire Wilson family.

To the Family & friends of Rich...

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Rich, your beloved father and husband. It's always so sad to hear of a friend's passing, especially one who was such a presence in this world. Both time and life seems to move too fast these days.

I had the pleasure of working with Rich at Thornridge High School for over 20 years. Even thinking of him as I write this I get a smile on my face remembering all the conversations and interactions. If you knew Rich you were assured that at some point in every conversation he would make you laugh. That gruff voice, wry sense of humor, and his infectious laugh. He'd say, "Lee, I gotta tell ya..."

To borrow a phrase from Dennis the Menace, Rich was "Good ol' Mr. Wilson." I loved talking to him because Rich always felt we had a certain kinship in matters of education and our knack for speaking truth to power.

While Rich didn't always put it on display, he was an extremely intelligent guy. He had great perceptions of situations and of his students. And I know deep down Rich cared so much for his students and would always stand up to defend their interests. He was a good guy who proudly wasn't afraid to speak up to ensure his students got the best education the school should and could provide.

Words can never do justice to what Rich meant to everyone who knew, but we can certainly take solace in knowing his was a life well lived.

One always wonders how much time we have on this earth and what's God's plan for us. All I can say is to cherish the memories and take comfort in knowing that he will always be with each and every one us. Just smile and think of the great times had with a wonderful person.

Rich was a good guy who loved life! I'm glad to know he took advantage of living every minute as he wanted. Be well my friend...May your spirit fly high and peace be with you.
