Obituary for Louise Lott

We honor and celebrate the life of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt, Beloved Sister, and dear friend to many, Louise Lott. The Lord blessed the late Collin and Gracie Sneed with their beautiful baby girl Louise, on July 13, 1933 in McKenzie, Tennessee. She was the fifth of six children. Her brothers: William Sneed (Marian), Elmo Lee Sneed (Othella), Collin Sneed, Jr. (Mildred); and sister: Addie Mae Harrell (Bernard) preceded her in death. Louise is survived by one sibling, her sister Dorothy Peoples (James) who lives in Chicago, Illinois.

Louise spent her formative years in McKenzie, Tennessee and there she graduated from Webb High School. She moved to Chicago, Illinois when she was 18 years old. Shortly after the move, she met and married the late James Sylvester Lott, Jr. The Lord blessed the union of Louise and James with six children: Sharon Lott – Chicago, Jacqueline Lott Jackson (Peter) – Atlanta, Georgia, James S. Lott, III (Rintta) - Chicago, Darryl Lott – Chicago, Kenneth Lott – Chicago, and Sheila Lott - Chicago.

Louise worked many years and retired from the Tavern Club, an elite private social club located on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago. She was also an associate member of Kentucky State University.

Louise was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Chicago. She loved gospel music and the great hymns of the church. Louise cultivated a love of God and gospel music within her children. They could often hear her singing and humming songs during the day. There are fond memories of gospel music blasting from the radio on Sunday mornings as the family got ready to attend church. One of her favorite hymns was "It Is Well With My Soul".

Louise was a woman of few words and had a wonderful sense of humor. Her faith was woven into the fabric of her life and relationships. When confronted with life's challenges or when encouraging others, Louise would often say: "Just Keep On Living". True to her own words, Louise kept on living a good and faithful life for many years. She peacefully passed on to Glory on Mother's Day, May 14, 2023, at the age of 89.

Louise leaves a legacy of love and faith to her six children, fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. They have peace in knowing All is Well with her soul.
