Harold E. Newchurch passed away on January 13, 2021 after a short illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Wilma Newchurch, Daughters Carmeleeta, Lolita, Sons Darryl (Pamela), Evan (Rochelle), Everett (LaShawn), Ted (Joyce), God-daughter Rachel (Ray), Sister Portia, Brother-In-Law Richard Evans, loads of grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins and a tremendous amount of friends and relatives. Visitation Friday 4 pm to 7 pm at Cage Memorial Chapel, 7651 S. Jeffery Blvd., 60649. Visitation Saturday at 10 am with Private Funeral service at 11 am at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 4501 S. Vincennes Ave., 60653. Harold was the first African American in the Sports Department at the Chicago Sun Times for 43 years as a Handicapper.
